Minutes of Zoom Board of Directors meeting,

July 30, 2025

1)    President Beko called the meeting to order at 10:05 am. All of the above were present.

2)    A “Get Well – Thankyou” card will be sent to Karen Feldman for her previous service.

3)    David Anderson has secured a website domain: www.washingtoncoinandbullionassoc.org. We all agreed that there should be a tab on the Home page to make donations, also a tab for a list of WCBA members.

4)    The Minutes of our July 15th meeting were approved.

5)    Improvements and corrections were made to three documents:  Email to new WCBA members; TAKE ACTION flyer; and Sample letter to legislators. There was much interaction and the changes were made to documents by Craig Rhyne, then sent on to Carolyn Beko for final, final changes, such as replacing the Senate Bill designation, actually ESSB 5794, to the new RCW (if this has been done by Dept. of Revenue).

6)    Treasurer David Anderson reported that checks are coming in, a payment has been made to Lobby Washington, and we have $2,410.99 in our bank account. David is also working on a QR code that we can put on printed materials and on our website so that people can donate that way.

7)    Everyone is to send their recommendations to David about what should be on the website, and Jake Graham is sending FAQs to David ASAP.

8)   President Beko has worked hard to develop an in depth policy paper and expects to have it done next week. Mark told us how important this is to accomplish our goal, we need to counter the bogus claims made by JLARC – that putting sales and B & O tax on precious metals and coins would bring in many millions of dollars to the state coffers.

9)    There was a discussion about attending fundraisers for various legislators who may be sympathetic to our cause and/or be a cosponsor to our legislation in the next session. Mark and Chet will let Board members know about such fundraisers in order to have us represented at them.  Also, Craig will contact Rep. Amy Walen and invite her to meet with him and Carolyn Beko at Redmond Rare Coins, to follow-up on Rep. Walen’s request to visit a coin shop.

10) Mark Gjurasic and Craig Rhyne are eager to have our email invitation sent out the list of 50 dealers to get the WCBA funded, and the board has approved the wording of the invitation to join WCBA. The only loose end is the matter of using SB 5794 or a new RCW in our communications, since there are hundreds of items in SB 5794 unrelated to coin and bullion transactions.

11)  The next 60-minute meeting will be done via ZOOM on August 20th at 10 am.  Mark G. will send invitations to participate.
